Can I adapt my existing threaded filters to use the MagLock mounting system?

No. The MagLock system uses 101mm filters without any threads. You’ll need the dedicated Helix filters to use the MagLock mounting system.

I don’t see thread sizes listed for the Helix filters. How do I know which one will fit my lens(es)?

All of the Helix filters are the same size (101mm), but they don’t use threading. Instead, the Helix Base Plates are what determine which camera lenses they’ll fit on.

Can I adapt the Helix filters to work with a matte box?

Yes! We offer a 114mm Matte Box Adapter (link) which will allow either the BaseCamp or the Nano 4x5 Matte Box to be installed on the front of any Helix filter.

Is there a hood available for the Helix filters?

There’s not a dedicated hood at this time, but we have seen some users adapt the Nano 4x5 Matte Box for this purpose.

Are the Helix McKinnon filters interchangeable with the Burkard and/or Shortstache Helix filters?

Yes! Any Helix filter will fit on any Helix Base Plate, so they’re all interchangeable.
